Country Club Wedding Photography
Robert and Carolyn’s wedding was a great time with great people! I’ve often found that those in the military and their families seem to have a zeal for life that many of us take for granted. Long deployments, time away from loved ones and the knowledge that they are risking their lives for their country seem to add up to people that are just so happy to celebrate life and appreciative of each that it spreads to all those around them. I was so happy to be included in this amazing wedding day!
We started the day at the Westin in downtown Pasadena where I’ve shot there several times. I love the location as not only do the rooms have great light but there are also so many great places around to shoot! After the getting ready, first look and some fun photos, we headed over to the country club for the wedding ceremony and lots of good times. The weather was as perfect for photography as I could ask for, Carolyn was gorgeous, Robert’s energy was contagious and the guests were amazing! Everything came together so well under the watchful eyes of the wedding planner-extraordinaire’s at it was a perfect day!
It’s been an awesome couple of weeks photographing everything from beautiful weddings in San Luis Obispo and Pasadena to doing commercial advertising photography for several wineries and catalog clients then capping it off with some fun nature photography for my personal portfolio of the beauty of Bend Oregon, Sisters, Portland and as many places as I had time to visit between them. I’m loving this new more mobile life though I am getting a bit tired of airports! I’m also really enjoying a couple of new photographic tools I have: my new Leica M9 and Summilux 50mm. While my Canon camera’s are extremely capable, they are also gigantic and a bit intimidating. As several people have noticed, my last few shoots, especially for the getting ready images, have been much more intimate in content then I have been in the bast. While I have always been photojournalistic in style, this tiny little quiet camera has allowed me to really get great candids without my presence, or rather the presence of a gigantic camera, to influence my subjects or otherwise spoil what would be a beautiful moment. I’m really enjoying this new ability to blend in better. I also want to thank my wonderful assistant Amanda for all her help with this wedding, thanks!
