I have been so busy I have not had the time to blog so there’s going to be a bunch of posts while I try to catch up over the next month!
Carolyn and Cameron had specially requested I shoot more candid and photojournalism at their wedding and while my photography is always skewed toward photojournalism this was a ton of fun. I always mix it up but this was the perfect group to let loose and have a great time and not worry too much about posing.
I drove up from San Luis Obispo the night before and stayed with my family in Petaluma before heading over the hill to Calistoga to the Silver Rose Inn. I have shot across the street at Solage Calistoga so I knew exactly how wonderful the light was going in the late afternoon so I was very excited. The Inn didn’t disappoint and Carolyn and Cameron (and guests!) were all very laid back and ready to have fun. The entire day was spent at the Inn and vineyards so that always makes for plenty of photo-ops! My favorite parts of the wedding were how emotional Cameron got when he saw Carolyn for the first look and when they decided to get a bit “nontraditional” with the cake cutting! See below for some pretty hilarious pics.
Congratulations Carolyn and Cameron!

I know everyone must get sick of hearing this but I’m going to say it again, I really love being a wedding photographer!
Keeley and Seth were an absolute riot to photograph, I had a great time! We started off out in the vineyards near Edna Vally Winery where we goofed around and got both some really cool and some utterly hilarious pictures. Seth and Keeley have amazing chemistry together and were total naturals in front of the camera, it was great! While few are completely comfortable in front of the camera at first, these guys just fed off each other and their enjoyment of each others company was enough to translate to comfort in front of the camera. We then moved on to a neat office building that was built but then abandoned for some great light and interesting architecture. We finished off with a little night photography in San Luis Obispo to get some amazing colors in the sky. Along the way some vanilla coke was drunk, good times were had and new friends were made!
I’m really looking forward to being their wedding photographer!

Robert and Jessica’s wedding was such a blast, I just can’t believe how great they were! We started out in Cayucos getting ready at a fun beach hotel. For those who haven’t been, Cayucos is a funky little beach town in San Luis Obispo that, thankfully, maintains it’s character as one of the last authentic beach communities in Southern California. Jessica’s bridesmaid’s and family were wonderful, it’s great to see such closeness and love among friends. They were totally welcoming and just wonderful genuine people.
We left Cayucos just as the sun came out and headed over to Spooners Cove at Montana de Oro State Park for the ceremony. I love what fog does for lighting and MdO’s really laid it on thick! Thankfully it was quite warm and Robert and Jessica were so focused on their love for each other that nothing else mattered. The ceremony was officiated by Jessica’s brother which was awesome as it was so personal and meaningful. After family pictures on the beach we headed back to the beach in Cayucos for the reception. Everyone laughed, dance, ate and had an awesome time; exactly as every wedding should do! We managed to sneak in a few minutes for photos along the way, I was quite happy with the results.
Thanks Robert and Jessica for choosing me to be your wedding photographer!
