Met up with Lindsey and Rob out in Los Osos then headed out to Montana de Oro for their engagement session. We quickly realized that not only was it pretty cold, but it was also SUPER windy! Like, blow us off the sand dunes and dirt in every part of my camera bag bad! Still got some great stuff then headed back to San Luis Obispo for a couple cocktails then some night shooting. I’m loving the reflectors on the train in the background of the below shot, my lighting really lit it up!
Can’t wait to shoot Lindsey and Rob’s wedding in just a couple month, they are great people and it’s going to be a ton of fun!

Just got Erin and Ramesh’s gorgeous album and had to show it off! The wedding was last summer at one of my favorite wedding venues in San Luis Obispo; Dolphin Bay Resort. The weather was absolutely perfect early int they day but got a bit windy later but we were all just super excited to not see any fog on the beach! This past summer was probably the most foggy summer on the coast of California in the past couple decades so it was quite a big deal. Erin and Ramesh are from Minnesota so this was a destination wedding for them so I was super excited to get to be a part of an intimate and wonderful wedding. I’ve attached a couple spreads but also check out the super cool cover Erin choose, I love it!

BTW, who likes the new place mats I shot the album on? Bonus Vegas points to anyone who can tell me which property has a nearly matching carpet!

  • Jared Rey - Dallas Wedding Photographer: The album looks great, love the combination of the brown leather with that grain cover. I also love that fabric background you placed the album on! (12.28.2010 03:57pm)

My buddy Syl has been working on a book all about using Canon flashes and asked me to pose for a few shots. So now Canon Europe posted up a series of articles Syl wrote and there’s a few pictures of me posing with my mountain bike showing the effects of different lighting. Pretty funny that my first international feature I’d be in front of the camera not behind it! lol
For all the photographers out there definitely pick up a copy of Syl’s soon to be released book covering every detail of how to use a Canon Speedlites. I like to think that I know quite a bit about photographic lighting but every time I talk to Syl we geek out on new ways to adapt our lighting and integrate new technologies to make what we do faster, easier and even better than before. You can find a link to order his book through this link: Speedliter’s Handbook

Use this below link then go to page 4 to see me. Next time I’ll request to be actually riding my bike but it’s pretty hard to do a bunch of example shots like that and make them all the same when I’m standing still little alone moving!
